How do all the mommies feel about their babies farting?

My mom hated that word, and so do I.

It just seems so..... well.... "un-mommyish."

My mom always said, "Toot, Tooted, Tooting",

or, "Fluff" or "Fluffing". I think the term came from the fact that when a baby toots, (i.e., passing gas out their bottom) it "fluffed out" or "fluffed up" the diaper.

And to answer your question, Yes, my mom loved it when babies tooted, or "fluffed" in their pants. :D

More about this later....

Phew! Somebody needs a changing.

Letting go

Post by Nanny Rachel »

We would all probable agree that mommies always come up with a pretty name for passing gas...oh my did baby let off another one...oh that is ok...I am sure that indicates baby is ready to make a messy in their diaper very soon...I am prepared for that...Rachel...

After it happens, just imagine how much better you feel though. Now you are a content and happy baby. Mommy just smiles and giggles a little.

*Toot* Aaahhhh.

I actually wrote about this very subject on my blog.

When I was growing up, I watched my Mother around other babies she babysat, and there was a clear difference in the way she reacted to toots based upon if the person tooting was still in diapers.

If you were a "big boy" and out of diapers, then my Mother found toots to be very offenseive and improper. And she didn't like the smell of "big boy" toots.

But if you were a baby, and still in diapers, messing your pants every day, then my Mother found toots to be charming and sweet, and she enjoyed the smell.

You can read more on my blog.

I personally love it when a baby "toots". It's what their little faces look like when the pass gas that I find so adorable - they always seem so surprised at what just occurred, then they start to giggle!

"Farting" does seem to be an unpopular word among mommies, and I agree that it sounds a bit "un-mommyish" as you put it... though it's great for low-brow comedy, heehee.

Anyway, when my sister and I were little, my dad had his own word for it... "fooping". When I, and later my sister, was a baby, we were sometimes "just fooping" according to my dad. He must've made the word up, lol.

Another funny thing... I didn't even learn the word "fart" until I started public school. I was in kindergarten, and every morning walked to school with two older boys who lived next door. One morning I let one slip by mistake and they started cracking up. I was laughing too, and I said "I fooped!" Then the older of the two boys corrected me, saying "You farted!"
Yes, I love diapers. Accept it.

I have a confession about this

Post by pinkluvs »

I have to confess that I can be a "little stinker". If I board an elevator, and I'm the only one on board after the doors close, and I have to "break like the wind", then I will do so.

I know that anyone who boards the lift after me will get a nose full, but I can't help it.

I don't do this often, just when the "opporknockity" (look it up, it's an old joke), arises. Mwahahahaha!

That was a bolt from the blue for me. I just came up with it.
I think it came from watching all the bad stuff that lots of people do to each other as seen from TV news.
I figure if more people got in touch with their inner child, then maybe we wouldn't have so much war and nastiness and stuff.

Thank you again Mandy :)
