Swaddle - Swaddling of infants has been
used throughout history to wrap a baby
snugly in swaddling clothes and blankets.
It was once believed to help the child attain
proper posture. Swaddling has been stated
by researchers as helping with neuromucular
development.
Swaddling can be done in different ways using
a variety of materials depending on the culture
and society that the baby comes from. Today it
is commonpractice to fold a blanket into a
triangle shape. The baby is then placed on the
blanket, feet towards the 'point' of the blanket.
The point is then brought up over the childs legs,
the sides are then wrapped around the baby. Most
newborns are comforted by this. Possibly because
it simiulates the security of the womb.
