This question is for mommies, grandmothers, babysitters, nannies, etc.
Let's say you are caring for a REAL baby, ages 6 to 12 months-old.
The baby is on solid food and formula.
You are there with the baby all day, 8 to 12 hours.
In the course of that time frame, how often do you check for a poopy diaper?
(Checking means not just sniffing, but actually pulling back the top of the diaper and looking for a poopy bottom.)
5 or 6 times? More then 10 times?
What is your "usual" amount of poopy diaper checks?
When I was little, I remember some moms were always pulling back the baby's pants and looking for poop. While other moms would only check a few times in a day.
I'm trying to see myself as a real baby, and if I was a real baby in your care, how often would you be pulling back my pants and checking my diaper for poop?
If I was on solid foods, formula, and 6 to 12 months old?
(I listed solid food and formula because solid foods can produce a lot of gas in babies that age, and formula fed babies have firmer and more fequent bowel movements.)

Good Question
Well I know I always keep a close eye on my little ones diapers throughout the day...usually watching for that oh so relaxed feeling which usually means a number 2...got to change pretty quick so diaper rash does not set in and if it is number 1...hehehe...I just keep looking for that expanidng front/full look...but any good mommy knows to keep a close eye on baby's diaper since anything can happen very quickly...lol...Josie...

Thank you so much for all of your replies!
Stella, Sara, and Josie, your answers were great!
Being a keen observer of mommies and babies, I always try to place myself as a REAL baby in the arms of the various mommies here on this board. I love hearing about how all of you care for REAL babies and when I fantasize about infancy, I am dreaming about being YOUR, REAL BABY.

Mommy Lauren, you are a great mommy!
You said something that is so keen to my personay fantasy... having my diaper checked for mess in front of other mommies.
When I was a little boy, this is something I saw, and loved seeing all the time.
I remember one time at our house, my mom was babysitting an infant girl, and taking to some of her friends who had dropped by for a visit. My mom kept smelling "something" and each time she did, she would pick the infant up and pull back her rubber pants and check for poop; right in front of all the other mommies!
