I can relate. It's not cell phones that I get mad about I suppose, but people who are rude when using them. I have one friend who will regularly show up at my house when we are supposed to meet yet a good fifteen- twenty minutes on her phone while standing in my door way. A few times on my not so nice days I just walk back into another room and do something and make her wait for me after she gets done.

Cell phones stink! I just don't want to be found sometimes, and nothing is worse then having your cell phone ring when you aren't working, I am so conditioned to having a sissy or abie on the other end sometimes I answer in my sweet mommy voice, which throws everyone off lol

Having worked in customer service on and off for many years, I can relate to the rudeness that cell phones seem to generate. There is however a sure fire way to both get their attention and teach them a lesson about rudeness.
When a customer (or anyone for that matter) comes up to me and ignores me as they yak on their cell phone, I just stand there, or sit there and look at them without saying a word. After a few minutes of yaking on the phone, they start to sence that something is wrong and that I am staring at them. They usually pause their cell phone conversation and ask me what's wrong. I just smile and say, "Oh nothing, I just didn't want to be rude and intrude on your phone conversation. When you are finished with your conversation and hang up, I'll be happy to help you."
By the way, it's not the cell phone that is the problem, it's the rude people that use them. I have a feeling that these kinds of people were ALWAYS rude, it's just that cell phones give them another way to express their rudeness.
Cell phones can be good

I don't mind people using cell phones, I think they are a good invention but I do think texting has gotten out of hand as I was at a birthday party the other day and these twelve years old had their cell phones out texting during one of their friends' birthday parties. It isn't so much the cell phone that needs to be hated it is the bad manner of the people who call their friends on the phone when they are out with other friends already, those talking on the cell phone when checking out, those driving while texting and causing accidents. It is the stupidity and carelessness of humans who should be blamed not the cell phones. Anyways that is my two cents on cell phones.

Texting makes me feel old. I'm not good at it, and it is so much easier to just call the person. You certainly wouldn't find me doing it while driving.

Ah the wonders of modern technology. They are either the bane or the saviors of society. It's all in how we use it.

I don't like them that much either, let me rephrase that, the cell phones are fine, it's the people who decide to make it everyone's business what they are talking about on the cell phone that irritate me. I don't want to hear how your car broke down, or how your mother has bowel issues, icky!

As far as a business tool it is now a requirement. For emergency it is a needed thing beyond that it is an annoyance to hear yak yak yak any and everywhere you go.

ok, so what gets my blood boiling about it is the incessant need to text and twitter and post on walls while out doing other things. I mean seriously, do you really have to tweet that the girl in front of you has a bad hair cut? Are people that narcissistic that they think that everyone is waiting on their next tweet or post about what gooey substance they have just stepped in?
GIMME A BREAK!!!
(ok, I'm better now, lol)

Almost all my friends are joined at the hip with their cell phones. I have a few friends who are so hooked that when they come over to my house I make them give me their phone when they visit. The whole time they are over they act like friggin heroin addicts with their phones needles to say they dont stay long...lol
