Hi all -
Maybe I am crazy but I just finished "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and I am soooooo depressed. I feel like I have lost a huge group of friends. So what now? Any advice on combating the post-HP blues?
Or you can all come in here and call me names and tell me how schmoopy I am!

Hello Mommy Star,
I often find when I finish a good book or series of books that i get the post novel blues.
The only recommendation i have is go find another good book. That is easy said than done though because when looking at the blurbs, after reading a good book, nothing seems to appeal like normal. It all seems a pale immitation or the plot looks too obvious. The trick is to open a few pages and read to see if it can capture your attention.. if it does buy it and take it home.
If that fails.. get out a couple of fav movies.. your favourite snacks settle down in your jammies and make a good night of being cosy but miserable and get it all out fo your system LOL
That said i finished reading HP today and also found myself a little bereft. Thankfully I have had some one nice to chat with who took my mind off that and turned a somewhat gloomy afternoon into an enjoyable if somewhat unforseen afternoon.
Btw.. what did everyone think of the last novel? I didnt like the first half all that much but the last half was mind blowingly good and I was impressed at how well she managed to tie up the loose ends.

I have not read the HP books. But I do know what you mean about feeling blue. I felt the same way when one of my favorite books ended. I know that might seem strange to some, getting attached to all the wonderful characters. But I think that is what makes books so wonderful, you are free to see them in your own way, envision the surroundings, how they speak.
I do hope that in the future J.K.R. writes more books. It would be very sad to never hear from this wonderful writer again.

You have NEVER read the HP books? Oh gosh, you really must! I didn't think that I would be into them either, but when I started them, I couldn't wait for the next one to come out and the next one...and...you get the idea!
But now they are all out and you don't have to wait years between like we did!

Try the first one when you have time and you will be hooked.

I felt so lost when I finished the last book that I did the only thing I could...
I went and got the first book and started reading the series over. I am on book 2 right now.
I guess you can say I am in Harry Potter denial. It's not over. Nope, not believing it.

Just awaiting the HBO / Netflix / Amazon series adaptation!
I've been waiting since June 26, 1997, Just take me back to Hogwarts already!
Not sure how they can recast the perfection that was Alan Rickman & Richard Griffiths! BIG SHOES!
