As Time Goes By

Post by babymarty »

As you all know, I'm not a "TV person", in fact, I really don't see much worth watching on the "Boob-Tube".

However, I have discovered a delightful British situation comedy produced by the BBC, and can be seen on American PBS stations in re-runs. :D

The show is called, "As Time Goes By", staring Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer, as 2 late, middle-aged lovers who re-kindle their romance after 38 years apart. 8)

The show is touching, funny, smart, and has plenty of British wit and sarcasm.

I have been able to catch a few episodes, and they are immpressive. :D

Has anyone else seen this wonderful British comedy?

I dont watch all that much tv either Marty, but I have caught a few episodes of as time goes by. It is pretty funny and amusing, and definitely full of quick wit and clever sarcastic remarks that i enjoy.

I havent watched it in years though.. it used to be on the ABC regularly here in Australia.

I like that show too, I have only seen it a couple of times though. I enjoy brit humour (look Glen, I spelled it right lol), so I am turning into a BBC America junkie, oh it's so sad.

A few years back I got caught up in a Brit Soap Opera, called The East Enders which was on PBS. I loved that show, and as soon as I got into it, and figured out who was who, they stopped showing it, it's just my luck lol

I love bbca. I used to watch the east enders. I have been a long time fan of AB FAB and The Young Ones. I also love Graham Norton. There was another show I was watching for awhile and now I can't remeber the name. I t had these sisters with flower names and one was upper class and one lower and they had a senile father. darn it, I'm totally blanking out, but i loved it too.

I actually may be able to help with this one, being British and all. Josie, I suspect the show you're thinking of may be "Keeping Up Appearances". I could be wrong though because I haven't seen the show for quite a long time myself. I'm not a fan. Very oddly, despite being the only Brit (as far as I know), I'm not a fan of Graham Norton, "As Time Goes By", "The Young Ones" or "Ab Fab" either. Sitcom-wise, I prefer "Blackadder" (except for the first season), "Only Fools And Horses" and "The Vicar Of Dibley", which I believe is going to have an American remake starring Kirstie Alley.

EastEnders is still showing. I'm addicted to it at the moment because it always comes up with incredible storylines at Christmas.

I used to love Footballer's Wives, or did I say that already, and also Dame Edna, omg she cracks me up lol. Trading spaces was another one I was addicted to as well. There are so many good programs on that channel that my list could go on forever.

My mommy watches Graham Norton and Ab Fab. There was this one show on bbca that she watched. It wasn't on very long but I liked. It was about a bunch of flight attendants. It was kind of like a soap opera but better and funnier. I dont know the name but they don't show it anymore.

Now that one's a bit of a mystery for me, Janey. Even with my vast knowledge of Britcoms . . . teehee . . . :)
