Brenda’s heart dropped as she heard Sean’s muffled cries through the monitor. Rushing to his room, she found him tossing and turning, his face flushed red with fever. She sighed, her maternal instincts kicking into high gear. “Oh, sweetie, what’s wrong?” she cooed, sitting on the edge of the bed, resting her hand against his forehead and then his cheek to feel how hot he was. Sean whimpered softly, his voice barely audible over the pounding of his head. “I don’t feel good, Mommy,” he groaned, turning his face into the palm of her hand. She frowned with worry at his words. “It’s okay, baby boy,” she murmured, kissing his forehead gently. “Mommy’s here to take care of you.” She gently brushed her knuckles against his cheek, wanting to comfort him. “Let’s see if we can make you feel a bit better, okay?” she said, her voice filled with reassurance. She then reached for the thermometer she kept in the bedside table and placed it under his tongue. After it beeped, Brenda checked the display. “You do have a bit of a fever, honey,” she murmured sympathetically, setting the thermometer aside. “But don’t worry, I’m here to care for you.” Sean nodded weakly, a small smile tugging at the sides of his lips. He felt grateful to have her by his side, her warmth and love comforting him even in his sickest moments. “I don’t like being sick, Mommy,” Sean sniffled, his eyes watery with tears, his lower lip trembling. Her big heart ached at the sight of her precious boy in distress. “I know, baby, but Mommy’s going to make you all better,” she assured him, brushing his hair back from his damp forehead. With that, Brenda sprang into action, determined to provide Sean with the comfort and care he needed. She fetched a basin of cool water and a washcloth, gently dabbing at his forehead to help bring down his temperature. Sean sighed contentedly at the refreshing sensation, his tense muscles relaxing under her gentle ministrations. She then reached for his baba, ensuring it was filled to the brim with water to keep him hydrated, knowing hydration was crucial when he was feeling under the weather.
“Here you go, sweetheart,” she said, offering him the bottle. He took it eagerly, knowing the cool liquid would feel good for his sore throat. “Thank you, Mommy,” he murmured, taking a long sip. Brenda smiled warmly, her heart swelling with love for her little boy. “You’re welcome, honey,” she replied, ruffling his hair affectionately. As the night wore on, Brenda remained beside his baby, soothing him with soft words and gentle touches. She gave him his medicine on time, ensuring he was comfortable and well cared for. And when he grew restless from the discomfort, she rocked him in her gentle arms until he drifted off to sleep. The following day, Sean awoke feeling much better; his fever finally broke, and his throat was no longer sore. A little loving care goes a long way!
